When installing certain programs, the following message occurs on a small number of Windows XP computers.
Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000034). Click on OK to terminate the application.
This is not a problem with the program or installer, but rather with the application that launches the installer. This application, called “InstallerLauncher”, is used to launch and monitor installation programs on Windows and Macintosh platforms.
To install the program without InstallerLauncher on Windows XP computers, follow the instructions below:
- Insert the installation disk.
- Open “My Computer”.
- Right-click the drive in which the installation disk is located and click “Open”.
- Locate the installer file. This file will have a short name describing the program, such as “bt2mathsbundle.exe” for the BRAINtastic v2 Maths Bundle. Filenames on Windows computers usually end with .exe or .msi (note that the filename extension may not be visible).
- Double click the installer file and follow the prompts.
