Can the EdAlive Server be run as a Windows service, so that the Administrator does not have to be logged in all the time?
There are several options for running the EdAlive Server as a Windows service.
Solution A – Upgrade the EdAlive Server
Uninstall the old version of the EdAlive Server, and download and install the latest version, which comes with an option for installing the EdAlive Server as a Windows service.
As an important note, you may wish to backup your group and user data.
Solution B – 3rd Party Software
Some programs, like Fire Daemon allow you to install and run virtually any native Windows application or script as a service. See their site for more information. Note that EdAlive does not support or endorse this method of running the EdAlive Server as a service.
Solution C – User Defined Services of Windows Servers
It is possible to alter the registry in order to run the EdAlive Server as a service. See How To Create a User-Defined Service for more information.
